Viña Pomal is produced by the historic Bodegas Bilbaínas, the largest vineyard in Rioja Alta and the largest to have all of its vineyards located in the tiny municipality of Haro.
The 600 acres of vineyard holdings of Bodegas Bilbaínas contrast dramatically with the average for the region: one acre. The fourth-largest bodega in Rioja, Bodegas Bilbaínas produces only single-vineyard wines—or viña de finca. This concept, originated by the founders of the winery, is widely used today by winemakers who seek to make their wines distinctive.

Viña Pomal Crianza
The vinification process for Viña Pomal Crianza is quite traditional: after destemming and crushing, maceration of the skins takes place with the must followed by alcoholic fermentation where the sugar is turned into alcohol. From aging for 6 months in 100% American oak barrels, this Crianza has aromas of black fruits and licorice with notes of cinnamon and cocoa.
